A portrait is not a likeness. The moment an emotion or fact is transformed into a photograph, it is an opinion. There is no such thing as inaccuracy in a photograph. All photographs are accurate. None of them is the truth. ~ Richard Avedon (1985) In the American West

We are inspired every day by works of art. It may be a meticulously handcrafted creation, the elegant prose of the written word, or even that special photograph you took on vacation. We all have the ability to design a masterpiece. We celebrate creativity at Shakespeare’s Attic with a selection of art and artistic accessories for the home.

Shakespeare’s Attic had humble beginnings. As lifelong collectors, we opened an eBay store in late 2009 so we could offer some of our treasures for others to appreciate. In 2010, we began building long-term relationships with trusted partners who aligned with our core beliefs:

  • We support fair trade and fair labor – Our products are made in the USA or sourced overseas using ethical and fair trade business practices that promote safe and empowering working conditions.
  • We support a strategic approach to sustainability – We believe the Earth is our most cherished resource. If we are to leave this planet a better place for future generations, we must also incorporate economic and social sustainability methods along with environmental best practices in our business model.
  • We support small businesses – We believe small businesses are the backbone of society. Most of our partners have less than 20 employees.
  • We support giving back – As citizens of the world, we believe it is our responsibility to provide opportunities that break the cycle of poverty and improve living conditions in communities. Our efforts support local artisans around the world and small businesses at home.

We launched our own website in the spring of 2011. We are currently working to re-design our site and plan to dramatically expand our product offerings in 2013 ... none of which would be possible without our customers. Thank you.

Let us know what you want to see. We would love to hear from you.
